Marvel Rivals is a heroic attempt to bring together some of the greatest comic book characters of our time. And to get the shooter battle ready, alpha and beta tests will come to the rescue.

It seems like such a simple concept, but Marvel Rivals is a six-vs-six shooter featuring superheroes—and that’s awesome. We already know many of the confirmed characters, and there’s also a cheeky data mine of unannounced characters revealing a ton of other potential heroes flying into the action.

Many of these characters were featured in the first Marvel Rivals alpha, and we’re here to look at everything we know about the next Marvel Rivals test—and beyond.

The Marvel Rivals closed beta test is coming sometime in July 2024. NetEase announced the date during PlayStation’s May 30 State of Play presentation, which was also used to announce new heroes Venom and Adam Warlock.

At State of Play, Marvel Rivals also confirmed it’s coming to console at the same time. The closed beta will be available on PC via Steam, along with PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it’s likely that the beta will also include crossplay between platforms, although it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed yet.

The first Marvel Rivals test dropped on May 10 at 7pm CT. It focused on finding out the areas the game could improve via community feedback. We got to see how it plays, if any bugs need to be Iron Manned out, and if heroes needed tweaks and balances.

The first alpha lasted 10 full days for players to try out the chaos and Carnage (don’t think he’s in it just yet) of Marvel Rivals. After this, we expect there will be plenty of residual handiwork for the NetEase devs to clear up after the conclusion of the closed alpha.

While there could be more tests in the future, players looking to play the beta will need to learn how they can get access to Marvel Rivals‘ closed tests. Unlike other titles, beta participation requires players to have completed certain achievements in the game, at least until other methods of beta acquisition are announced.

Keep coming back as we’ll continue to bring the latest and greatest superhero fighting news regarding Marvel Rivals. You can also check out all the confirmed maps so far.
