A champion will be crowned at the League of Legends Worlds 2024 finals in November, but for now, Faker is the king. At least, that’s according to the music video for this years Worlds anthem.
The video for “Heavy is The Crown” by Linkin Park released this morning, and it’s a sight to behold. With an incredible animation style reminiscent of Arcane, the video casts the band as performers in a throne room where Faker and T1 reside.
But King Faker is just one of several pros who got the animation treatment. Because outside the throne room and massive castle, thousands of challengers approach, including Caps from G2 and Massu from FlyQuest, among others.
The pros do battle with fun weapons in the medieval setting as the throne room is laid under siege, culminating in T1 coming out to face all challengers, as the reigning champs will do once more in the Worlds tournament this year.
As for the song, well, it simply bangs. It’s classic Linkin Park mixed with a little something new, and solidified by an incredible 15 second-long scream by new singer Emily Armstrong. The legendary band will make for an awesome performance at the Worlds 2024 Final on Nov. 2—I can confirm this, as I just saw them live last week.
Where “Heavy is The Crown” ranks among all previous Worlds anthems is up for debate, but the video is an instant classic, and the song slaps, too. It’s a part of the band’s first new album in seven years, From Zero, which is set to release on Nov. 15.
Worlds 2024 kicks off tomorrow when Vikings Esports takes on MAD Lions to being a month-plus of top League competition to decide who will be next to don the crown.
