The Halo franchise moved in a new direction alongside the release of its cross-platform multiplayer in Halo Infinite, introducing a seasonal battle pass system for players to grind through to earn different rewards.
Popularized by games in the battle royale genre, like Fortnite and Apex Legends, the battle pass gives players challenges to complete as they attempt to progress through ranks that unlock a plethora of cosmetics and in-game goodies.
While there are some things to be earned from leveling in the unpaid version of the battle pass season, players have significantly more to gain by purchasing the premium version of the battle pass.
The pass itself requires players to pay 1,000 in-game credits. Those credits can be purchased for $10. But if you purchase credits in bulk, you can get a better deal than $10 for 1,000. For instance, 11,500 credits currently cost $100.
Halo Infinite season start and end dates
Here is a list of every season that has been announced with their start and end dates:
Season number | Name | Start and end dates |
Season one | Heroes of Reach | Nov. 15, 2021 to May 3, 2022 |
Season two | Lone Wolves | May 3, 2022 to Nov. 8, 2022 |
Season three | Echoes Within | March 7, 2023 to June 20, 2023 |
Season four | Infection | June 20, 2023 to Oct. 17, 2023 |
Season five | Reckoning | Oct. 17, 2023 to Jan. 30, 2024 |
Following the early release of the game’s multiplayer, 343 Industries announced that season one, Heroes of Reach, would be longer than originally anticipated because it’s the first of the Halo Infinite seasons. This gave players ample time to earn as much as possible from the battle pass. Season two, Lone Wolves, was announced in March 2022.
In September 2022, 343 announced that season three, Echoes Within, would be delayed until March 7, 2023. Rather than extend season two, the Winter Update will take over from Nov. 8 until the start of season three, featuring its own free battle pass plus new maps, events, and the long-awaited Forge beta.
On June 3, 2023, season four, Infection, was announced on the Halo Waypoint Blog, releasing two weeks later on June 20 alongside the namesake game mode. Season five, Reckoning, would follow the same structure with the official trailer releasing on Oct. 9 and Oct. 17 as the official start date, teasing some of the biggest updates to Forge with AI enemies and creations now usable in custom maps.
