Frostpunk 2 is a sequel to the 2018 city builder, set in a post-apocalyptic world fueled by politics, gut-wrenching decisions, and never-ending winter. The aesthetic of the Frostpunk world is unmatched, and if you can’t wait any longer, you can play the game early through early (aka advanced) access.
Here is everything you need to know about Frostpunk 2‘s early access.
How to play Frostpunk 2 early
You can play Frostpunk 2 three days ahead of its full release on Sept. 20 if you pre-order the Deluxe Edition for $74.99 with the 10 percent launch discount. The edition includes early access, three post-release DLCs, an exclusive in-game item, a digital artbook, soundtracks, and a novella.
Here’s how to pre-order and play Frostpunk 2 early:
- Purchase the digital Frostpunk 2 Deluxe Edition on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, or Microsoft Store (on PC).
- Once early access becomes available on Sept. 17, head to the storefront you bought the game on and download it.
Unfortunately, the Frostpunk 2 Deluxe Edition isn’t available on Game Pass, so if you want to play the game early, your only option is to pre-order. The game will be available on Game Pass with full release on Sept. 20, though.
At the time of writing, there’s no pre-load available for Frostpunk 2 early access. Your only option is to download the game as soon as it goes live. Luckily, the game only requires 30Gb of free space, so the download shouldn’t be long.
The sequel builds on the original game’s concepts, taking them to a new level and scale. From building Districts, establishing colonies, and negotiating with multiple factions, there’s a lot to manage if you want to take back the Frostland. 30 years have passed since the Great Storm, and your diplomacy is the key to leading everyone out of the harrowing safely or going down together.
