Frostpunk 2 requires strategic and careful planning in more ways than you can imagine. Every move counts, as you might not be able to go back on it. Construction takes precious time and resources, and sometimes, you can’t cancel it if you make a mistake.
Here’s everything you need to know about canceling construction in Frostpunk 2.
Can you cancel construction in Frostpunk 2?
Unfortunately, you can’t cancel the district or building construction once it’s started. The only way to get rid of the building or a district is to wait until it’s complete and then demolish it. However, this takes additional time and doesn’t refund all the Prefabs, Heatstamps, and other resources you spent on construction.
The only exceptions are the Trails and Skyways you build to connect colonies and settlements to your city. During construction, click on the hammer icon that indicates construction progress to cancel it and get your resources back.
It’s unclear if the developer plans to extend this canceling feature to districts and buildings, but in the meantime, make sure to carefully consider where you’re building to avoid losing time and resources. This is especially important in higher difficulties where there’s little to no room for error.
How to demolish districts and buildings in Frostpunk 2
To demolish a district or a building, select the district and choose to destroy it at the bottom of the menu or a specific building next to the building slot. Demolishing takes less time than construction but only partially refunds the resources.
You can’t demolish districts where a Faction is hosting a rally or a protest. Wait until the rally is over, or deal with the protest to start demolishing them.
How to cancel construction planning in Frostpunk 2
If you’re still in the planning stage of building a district, you can cancel the construction by deselecting the tiles (right-click by default), similar to Frostbreaking. Deselect all the tiles to cancel construction or select new ones if you want to adjust the district’s placement.
