Apex Legends’ season 19, Ignite, will start in under two weeks. But today, we got our first official look at the abilities of Conduit, the newest legend to join the battle royale, after months of rumored changed abilities and leaks surrounding her entire kit.
The Ignite launch trailer followed Conduit’s squad around the newly updated Storm Point as they hunt down enemy teams, using all three of her abilities to win her opening match of the Apex Games. All of her abilities were directly teased in the trailer and closely follow the most recent leaks, which point toward a supportive playstyle centered around the distance between her teammates.
The trailer opens up with Conduit shooting multiple beams of energy from the back of her armor. Although the sequence is just an in-universe dream, the idea greatly supports her leaked ultimate ability, Alternating Current, which is said to make an indestructible wall by using her titan battery, similar to Wattson’s fences. The yellow beams are a direct callback to Titanfall 2’s Ion Titan and its Tripwire ability, which also created a field of electric beams, deadly to pilots and titans alike.
Conduit’s tactical ability, Arc Flash, allows her to directly heal the shields of her teammates, within a certain range and provided line of sight. Halfway through the trailer, Conduit uses this ability to heal Gibraltar and Mirage after they are hit by Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm. The leaks say Arc Flash will come with multiple charges, like Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster or Catalyst’s Piercing Spikes, but could possibly work on an overheat system instead of the traditional cooldown timer.
In-universe, Conduit is using her salvaged titan battery to power her kit, at the cost of increasing her own radiation exposure. If the explanation directly translates to gameplay, Conduit could potentially damage herself or disable further use of her tactical ability if she overuses the heal, like how a player must wait for the L-STAR LMG to cool down if it’s fired for too long.
Conduit’s passive, Capacitance, gives her a 40 percent speed boost whenever she’s out of range to use her tactical ability on her teammates. Two minutes into the trailer, Conduit is seen catching up to her teammates after outrunning Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder, healing their shields again with Arc Flash and allowing them to win the fight.
Many fans have already pointed out Conduit’s unique outfit, which includes her completely covered legs as part of her exoskeleton armor. This design choice explains how she can keep up with fellow speed legend Octane, who also outran Bangalore’s ultimate with the 40 percent increased speed by using Stim in his introduction trailer. Currently, the leaks have not shown if her passive will always be active or if it will work on a cooldown alongside her tactical.
The official gameplay trailer for Ignite will drop on Oct. 26, which will feature Conduit and the newly updated Storm Point. A legend spotlight trailer is also expected to drop on the same day, which will give the official ability descriptions for all of Conduit’s kit, alongside live examples of how they function in-game.
Conduit is set to join Apex when season 19 begins on Oct. 31.
