A nerf to Dragon’s Claw through Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.16 has caused confusion and frustration, but it’s the Dragon’s Spirit Augment that’s not performing as intended.
A significant nerf was applied to the TFT Set 12 Dragon’s Claw item through Patch 14.16, reducing the heal from five to 2.5 percent every two seconds. Many players leaned heavily on the item after launch through the Magic n’ Mayhem Augment Dragon’s Spirit, which grants a Dragon’s Claw and drops up to four components every time the unit equipped with the item heals up to 7,000 in health. Since Patch 14.16 went live, however, players couldn’t hit the 7,000 heal threshold, and it’s because Dragon’s Spirit isn’t working properly, as shared by Twitter/X user Lauren “Kayna” Wu on Aug. 16.
Game design director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer addressed the Dragon’s Spirit Augment through the Patch Rundown for 14.16, confirming that the healing threshold would account for all sources of healing, not just from the Dragon’s Claw item. Mortdog and the team are aware of the bug and investigating the issue as “some healing sources count, some don’t,” according to screenshots shared by Kayna.
Another Patch 14.16 TFT Set 12 bug players should avoid is a Statikk Shiv on Ryze unless you like shredding your team, according to Kayna. And for players who want to upgrade Booms within the client, Riot confirmed to Dot Esports earlier in the week that Booms can’t be upgraded, but the team is testing a fix that may drop in a future update.
At time of writing, the TFT team has no plans to ship a B-patch. The earliest players will see any changes applied to the Dragon’s Spirit Augment will be through Patch 14.17, which doesn’t go live until Aug. 28. Until then, I recommend avoiding the Set 12 Augment.
