Earlier this year, Marvel Rivals saw great early success with a closed beta playtest that was exclusively on PC. At that time, there was no word on whether or not the game would ever be coming to consoles.
This combined with the fact the anti-cheat engine used on the PC beta isn’t available on consoles led to some uncertainty and skepticism in the community, but the latest Marvel Rivals announcement has changed everything.
Marvel Rivals on PS5 or PS4: Is it available?
The next Marvel Rivals closed beta will run in July 2024, and will be available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. Additionally, if you play this nextbeta on PlayStation, you’ll get a PS5-exclusive Scarlet Spider costume for Spider-Man.
At the time of writing, the exact dates for the next closed beta haven’t been disclosed, nor has the exact sign up process been revealed. However, regardless of which platform you’re on, it’s a good idea to join the official Marvel Rivals Discord, as that’s where a sign up announcement is slated to be released towards the end of June.
Continuing recent trends, it seems like it’s pretty much set in stone that Marvel Rivals will not be playable on PS4. It’s possible I’ll be proven wrong, but I think we’re officially at the point in time where last-gen support breaks that norm, and the fact NetEase didn’t mention the PS4 at all means it’s going to be left out of the game’s full release.
