Clean this rabble up—court is now in session. Riot Games has showcased two new skins coming to League of Legends during today’s LCS broadcast, with Janitor Thresh and Attorney Azir marking a welcome return to Riot’s classic skin design philosophy that puts the champion first.
The two new skins were shown off during the Team Liquid vs. 100 Thieves match at the LCS Summer Championship and fans cannot wait to get their hands on them. Janitor Thresh features the Chain Warden outfit in cleaner’s garb, with his iconic Dark Passage hook replaced with a two-in-one mop and drying tool and his ultimate seeing him summon wet floor signs as markers for The Box.
Attorney Azir sees the Emperor of the Sands trade his League armor for a suit and briefcase as he takes on crime in the courtroom. From wielding a spear with scales to sheets of paper flying away whenever he or his Sand Soldiers attack, you’ll be able to lay down the law on the Rift. The briefcase and gavels come out again with Azir’s ultimate Emperor’s Divide, battering enemy champions into submission before he teleports away, balancing the scales of justice.
We knew the Attorney Azir skin was on the way thanks to a blog post by the Riot developer team on Aug. 23 that also delves into a return to the design philosophy of old—a focus on “champions first.” Devs said in the post they’d be looking more into what each champ was missing in regard to themes, with a balance between “serious and cool” and “silly and goofy.” These two skins definitely fall in the latter category, but both are incredibly polished and hilarious, and early feedback from players on social media is great.
“Enough shiny white [and] gold skins! Let’s hope this is a return to glory,” one fan said, while others agreed saying fewer overall skins were fine if they came with “more soul and identity.” We likely won’t need to wait too long for these skins as both are arriving on the PBE next week, so be ready to clean up crime—one case at a time!
