With nearly 170 champions on the League of Legends roster, there will always be some just stronger than others, which means players are constantly looking for the very best champs to win ranked games with.

That remains true in League Season 14, especially after the huge item overhaul and the major Summoner’s Rift revamp heading into 2024. Even early on, powerful new picks started to emerge, with many quickly hitting incredible win rates.

Here are the 10 best League champions to play in Patch 14.12 so far.

Best League champs in Patch 14.12

Top lane

Kayle

In a meta of mid-game bruisers and fighters, Kayle is an exception who can single-handedly carry the game if allowed to enter the latter stages of the game. No other champion has arguably better scaling than the top lane champion, and her well-timed ultimate can turn around every fight. Unfortunately, a lot of popular champions in the current meta counter her well, like Camille, Irelia, Zac, Jax, or Tryndamere. But if you find yourself facing a top laner like Olaf, Jayce, or K’Sante, Kayle might just be a perfect option.

Fiora

Playing a lategame scaling champion can get boring. In the end, you’ll likely get shut down in most cases, creating space for the rest of your teammates. While this strategy might boast you some wins, if you want exciting one-versus-one action, pick Fiora.

The fighter has been one of the strongest League top laners across season 14, however, she solidified her position after Patch 14.12. She’s solid against lane bullies like Darius, Renekton and Warwick, and can create an enormous impact in teamfights later on. Just remember to flank enemy carries and you’ll be fine.

Jungle

Nocturne

A lot of champs have the ability to single-handedly carry in the current meta, which marks them as dangerous prospects from the start of each match. Luckily, you can shut down such champions with Nocturne. The jungler is pretty useless until he reaches level six, but once he gets hands on his ultimate, it’s game over. Nocturne’s Paranoia is a perfect tool to punish overstepping carries, or to just camp for the dangerous ones.

Taliyah

Another fun and, more importantly, perilous pick for the jungle is Taliyah. Her ultimate allows you to cut possible escape routes. At the same time, it can create a lot of space around neutral objectives. Therefore, Taliyah is more than perfect for both ganking and fighting collectively as a team. On top of that, she has a versatile, powerful kit that can do a lot of damage.

Mid lane

Galio

Champs with a lot of map control are immensely popular in Season 14. While Twisted Fate is incredibly strong and versatile, we’d like to point out Galio. After level six, this champion is able to aid his allies in need by flying across the map and dunking on the opponents. Therefore, he’s a strong pick for the mid lane, where he has the range for the majority of the map. At the same time, he’s a really tanky pick with various crowd controls tools, which makes him a perfect asset to have by your side in teamfights.

Kennen

Mid lane is often associated with mages who can come in and sweep the opposition with powerful spells. While the meta has been evolving with each update for the past few years, Kennen is a symbolic example of that original mid lane idea. His perilous, AP-based abilities are something to be afraid of, especially once the Yordle hits his mid-game power spike. Although, he works best if he manages to flank the opposition with his ultimate and Zhonya’s Hourglass combo. When picking Kennen, try to keep the vision behind enemy lines, so you have plenty of space to go for these flanks with Teleport.

Bot lane

Crowd control tools are much-needed in every League team composition. Despite being one of the original champions, Ashe still has the longest CC under her belt in the form of her ultimate. Her Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) is a great tool to engage on the enemy team and to disengage if you find yourself caught. Besides, she scales really well and is an all-round great pick for the bottom lane.

Kai’Sa

While Ashe is a versatile, easy-to-learn champion, Kai’Sa if a challenging all-in lategame monster. Her unique kit forces you to play aggressively and look for flanks yourself, which is a stupendous idea. Yet, it works, if you manage her well. Build Zhonya’s Hourglass or Guardian Angel to increase your survivability just in case something goes wrong.

Support

Poppy

With hypercarries, unkillable tanks, and perilous mages, sometimes a team can become too powerful as a unit, and your best way to win a teamfight is to split them up. That’s where Poppy comes to play. Her basic kit has a lot of crowd control, but she shines with her ultimate, that can knock back multiple enemies at once. It’s perfect for securing space and time to finish off opponents who stayed fighting.

Janna

Last but not least, we have Janna, who is quite similar to Poppy with her ultimate, but more versatile worth the rest of her abilities. With a shield, a heal, knock-up, and a slow, Janna is a definition of an all-round support pick. On top of that, the meta promotes going for AP mages and other aggressive champs in the bot lane. Having Janna by your side in duels like these might be just enough to survive.
