If you are tired of playing the Lamb and want to be the Goat for a change, Cult of the Lamb’s latest update has your back.
Released on Aug. 12, the Unholy Alliance update introduces co-op play and the Goat—a mirror image of the Lamb—as the second playable character in the popular action roguelike game. As exciting as that sounds, unlocking it for solo play can seem a bit tricky, especially for beginners.
Don’t worry, though—this guide is all you need to get the Goat in Cult of the Lamb.
How to unlock the Goat for Cult of the Lamb single player
If you are solo but want to play as the Goat in Cult of the Lamb, you need to unlock its fleece first with five Sin currency.
But before you do that, you need to add a player to your save if you haven’t initiated co-op at least once. Here’s a rundown:
- Load up your save and then pause the game.
- Select Add Co-Op Player.
- Connect two controllers to your platform and assign one each to the Lamb and the Goat. Now, select the Summon The Goat option.
- Once done, open the pause menu again and remove the co-op player from your save.
You don’t need to unlock the Goat fleece to play as the Goat if you want to play co-op with a friend. Simply summon it for a co-op session as described above and you should be good to go. You only need to unlock the fleece if you want to play as the Goat in single-player mode.
Now, let’s get to the crux. Just follow the steps below to unlock the Goat fleece and the Goat in Cult of the Lamb:
- Initiate a Crusade, but don’t fight back your enemies. You have to die for an essential cutscene featuring the Goat to appear.
- After the cutscene ends and you unlock a few Tarot Cards, head to the Temple in your base and open the Crown menu.
- Here, under the Fleeces section, you’ll see the Goat fleece, which can be unlocked for five Sins.
- Once you purchase the fleece, you can play Cult of the Lamb as the Goat even in the single player mode.
If you haven’t unlocked the Sin currency in Cult of the Lamb already, defeat at least three Bishops found in different regions to get it.
You only need five to get the fleece you want, but it isn’t easy to farm the currency, either. There are a few ways to farm Sins, but you can start by performing the Rite of Lust, Rite of Wrath, the Gluttony of Cannibals, or have followers confess their crimes at the Confession Booth.
