To enjoy a unique or silly game in Balatro, try out a seeded run for your next playthrough. In these runs, you enter a code that sets up the game with specific Shops, Boss Blinds, and outcomes for random events, like what you’ll find in card packs.
Remember, seeded runs are just for fun; you won’t earn achievements or unlock new cards with them. People mostly play seeded runs to compete with other players for high scores or just to find extremely broken Joker combinations. Here are 10 of the best Balatro seeds to try out today.
The best seeds to use in Balatro
Some of the best Balatro seeds in this list feature a slew of Legendary Jokers and interesting characters, while others present a unique challenge for seasoned players to test their skills against.
They’re all a lot of fun to play through, though. We’ve included tips and tricks for each seed to help you beat it, but note that these lists are suggestions not prescriptions—it’s entirely likely that you can find your own way to beat each run listed below.
Make sure to experiment and consider card synergy above all else, and don’t be afraid to skip a Blind or reroll the shop to gain an advantage when playing. This game rewards creative thinking, especially when it comes to building up card combinations.
V14NKYRB – Mountains of monarchs
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Skip the first Small Blind to get a head start | Forget about Planets, as upgrades are essential here |
Look out for the Spectral Pack and pick up an Ankh as soon as possible to copy crucial Jokers | Skip the first Big Blind |
Focus on face cards, Two Pairs, and Full Houses | Ignore any cards that let you copy Kings and Queens |
Pick up the Blueprint Joker for a copycat ability | Forget to sell any non-essential Jokers you end up with |
The V14NKYRB seed is equal measures interesting and challenging, and it’s possible to hit the ground running by skipping the first Small Blind of the game.
We’d suggest focusing on finding face cards and Jokers that benefit them, including the Legendary Jokers if you can get them. The Blueprint Joker is another key card to watch out for.
Additionally, look out for the Spectral Packs on offer and snag them to pick up The Ankh. The Ankh lets you copy Jokers, which can make all the difference with a seed like this—especially if you have a Legendary Joker or high-quality Joker in your collection.
MZB33MVX – Lucky Jokers
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Open Buffoon Packs whenever they become available | Forget to enhance your cards wherever possible |
Play with the Erratic Deck | Ignore the chance to score big with luck-based Jokers, even in the later stages of the game |
Experiment with different types of hands | Skip any Blinds in the first few rounds |
Be mindful of suits and how matching suits can help you score even higher | Forget to plan ahead for Boss Blinds, especially as you approach the final rounds |
MZB33MVX is a seed that focuses on finding luck-based Jokers and swinging the odds in your favor.
To succeed here, we’d suggest using the Erratic Deck. This deck is unlocked by winning a run using the Orange Stake difficulty, which is, in turn, unlocked by beating a run with the Purple Stake difficulty. Stakes unlock in a linear fashion.
The Erratic Deck means that every Rank and Suit in the deck is completely randomized, which suits the mishmash style of this seed perfectly.
VMDK4RF8 – Overflowing with Arcana
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Pick up the Jumbo Arcana Packs as soon as they spawn | Leave The Soul behind—this Spectral card is crucial |
Read the descriptions of each Legendary Joker carefully and plan your strategies around this | Forget to upgrade your hand where you can |
Keep an eye out for useful tags as you progress that could warrant skipping a Blind or two | Rely too heavily on Jokers that are purely luck-based instead of suit or card-based |
VMDK4RF8 is arguably the simplest Balatro seed in this list, but it’s one of the most enjoyable.
This seed simply focuses on Legendary Jokers and building up a strategy that supports each special card. Pay attention to the particular card types and suits that each Legendary Joker benefits, and watch out for useful tags, too.
61TP3FV9 – A Legendary run
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Skip the first Small Blind to hit the ground running | Avoid Celestial or Arcana packs, as they’re crucial for this Balatro seeded run |
Consider using the Yellow Deck to get an extra chunk of change to spend on high-end cards | Skip too many Blinds—a few is fine, but you need money to get through this run |
Remember to upgrade your hand with Planet cards | Rely too heavily on luck-based Jokers |
We’ve included 61TP3FV9 as it offers plenty of opportunities for Legendary Jokers to be added to your hand. If you’re newer to the game and you’re hoping to find the best Balatro seeds that don’t require too much intensive planning, this is one of the strongest picks for you.
Make sure to plan ahead when you’re at the Small Blind stage of each round. Look at the Boss Blind and keep it in mind when picking your Packs and Jokers before you get to it.
7LB2WVPK – Walkie Talkie time
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Use the Erratic Deck for this run | Skip any Blinds, especially at the start of the run |
Pick up the Walkie Talkie Joker when it becomes available | Opt for too many luck-based Jokers |
Focus on adding Mult-centric cards to your hand | Avoid using Standard Packs, as they can prove to be very helpful |
7LB2WVPK is another seed which you should use the Erratic Deck for. The Erratic Deck may seem like it increases the difficulty for a Balatro run, but it can be one of the best ways to get through a tricky seeded run without having to restart.
Focus on adding extra Mult cards to your hand, and make sure you snag the Walkie Talkie Joker as soon as it pops up in the shop. This card offers an extra 10 chips and four Mult when a 10 or a four is scored, which will help you secure the win.
D38IYHIA – Double trouble
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Take advantage of the earlier Blinds having lots of paired cards available to get a head start | Skip any of the initial Blinds, as they’re crucial for the later stages of the run |
Watch out for Kings and Queens, especially when you’ve got the Triboulet Legendary Joker in play | Scrap any face cards, as they make up a core part of the strategy for this run |
Open up Celestial Packs as you make progress, as upgrades will come in extra handy during the later stages of the game | Just focus on one type of hand as you play through this run, make sure to add some variety |
We’ve dubbed D38IYHIA “double trouble” as it starts off with a plethora of pairs in the early stages of the run. Take advantage of the duos and use your discards wisely to get through the first Blinds without taking too many turns.
Look out for The Soul and pick up the Triboulet as soon as possible. When you find The Ankh, use this to duplicate the Triboulet to stack its benefits even higher. Avoid getting rid of any Kings and Queens, and consider which Jokers could add extra value to your face card-centric hand.
MQGJ5P37 – Look out for Legendaries
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Skip the first Small Blind to get a valuable tag | Worry too much about Vouchers, as this is a Pack-heavy run |
Double your Legendary Jokers using tools like the Ankh from the Spectral Pack wherever you can | Forget about key Balatro seed strategies like matching suits, skipping key Blinds, and finding extra sources of money |
Find ways to add more face cards, particularly Queens and Kings, to add more consistency to your hand | Get rid of any face cards, as they’re crucial here |
Remember to upgrade your hand with Planets as you go | Rely too heavily on luck-based Jokers |
The MQGJ5P37 seed revolves around Legendary Jokers—Triboulet, specifically—and making smart decisions that buff these iconic cards.
The Triboulet card dictates that played Kings and Queens give a two times Mult when scored, which can be buffed even further when paired with additional Jokers that focus on face cards. Don’t forget to upgrade your hands as you go, but predominantly focus on Kings, Queens, and Legendaries here.
11135IT7 – Tarot-ten to the core
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Pick up as many Arcana Packs as you can | Avoid picking up The Soul whenever it spawns—this card is invaluable and should always be used |
Hold onto your Tarot cards if you’re unsure when you should use them, as there’s no rush | Just opt for any random Joker, make sure you consider which ones work in harmony e.g. suit-oriented Jokers |
Look for Legendary Jokers wherever possible | Skip too many Blinds, especially in the early stages |
11135IT7 is a seed where Tarot cards are an essential, so make sure to grab any Arcana Packs that you come across when shopping. It doesn’t hurt to pick up a sellable Joker during the earlier rounds too, so that you can spend more money in the later stages of the game.
Pick up The Soul whenever you see it during this run. If you’ve not seen The Soul before, it creates a Legendary Joker, which can be infinitely valuable for this seed. The only requirement (other than finding the card) is that you have enough room for a Joker.
4FVWZDGU – Plenty of challenges
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Look out for Gros Michel and Cavendish cards as you shop for Jokers during this run | Forget to upgrade your hand with Standard Packs and Mega Standard Packs |
Save your cash for key Jokers and Mega Packs | Ignore card synergy or potential combinations |
Pick your skips mindfully, paying attention to the tags that each skip offers | Forget to plan ahead for Boss Blinds—there are some tricky ones in the later rounds |
4FVWZDGU is a uniquely challenging seed that features up to three Gros Michel or Cavendish Jokers to pick up. If you’re unfamiliar, these cards work as follows:
- Gros Michel. Offers a 15+ Mult, but has a one in six chance to destroy itself at the end of a round.
- Cavendish. Will not appear unless you play a Gros Michel and it destroys itself. Offers a three times Mult and has a one in 1000 chance of destroying itself when a round finishes.
These Jokers are a lot of fun to play with and can make up part of some wickedly overpowered combinations if you pick your moment wisely. Make sure to pick up plenty of Standard Packs and Tarot Packs while playing so you don’t fall behind.
11A8CHK2 – King of Hearts
Do | Don’t |
---|---|
Pick up a Tarot Pack as soon as possible | Skip any of the Blinds in the initial rounds |
Utilize The Soul to grab a Legendary Joker | Ignore Standard Packs—they can be incredibly valuable in this particular run |
Buy the Polychromatic Red Seal King of Hearts from the first Mega Standard Pack you come across | Stick to just one type of hand, as there are plenty of routes to success with this seed |
Duplicate the Red Seal King as you play | Skim read the text of any Jokers you come across |
Finally, we’ve nicknamed 11A8CHK2 as the King of Hearts, thanks to the wicked Polychromatic Red Seal King of Hearts that you can pick up early on in the game from a Mega Standard Pack.
Standard Packs and Mega Standard Packs might not seem like the most interesting packs to open in Balatro, but they can make the difference between winning a run and wiping. Plus, picking up a card that offers both a 1.5X Mult and a Retrigger can make the early stages of the game a breeze.
Duplicate the King of Hearts with these traits wherever possible, and make sure to find other Jokers that compliment its abilities too—for example, the Lusty Joker. which provides a Mult for Heart cards.
What are seeds in Balatro and how do you use them?
Seeds in Balatro are unique IDs for a playthrough. Each seed sets up a particular set of shop items, the order of cards, pack contents, and more.
Despite Balatro feeling incredibly random at times, seeds predetermine almost everything that you come across while playing. It means that you can share the code for a specific seed with friends and challenge them to beat your score using the same conditions.
If you’re hoping to find a seed for the run you’re currently on, open up the Settings tab and look for an alphanumeric code. Every run has a seed in Balatro!
If you’re using a seed for the first time, all you need to do to start the new run is:
- Choose New Run when setting up your game
- Pick your deck type and Stake
- Hit the Seeded Run option
- Type or paste the seed code into the box
- Hit play
Once you do that, the game will start automatically with your chosen seed code. If you end up wiping and want to restart with the same seed, remember to copy and paste it back into the Seeded Run box, as it will not carry over automatically.
