With HWC Season 1 over and many players taking some time off, 343 has some time to invest in other areas of Halo 5. I am sure they will now work much harder on improving the casual side of the game, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the competitive side. One of the big things 343 should focus on is adding Forge maps to Team Arena.

With the last few Arena maps designed by 343 not meeting the expectations of the competitive community, I can’t help but wonder if 343 may want to look into community created Forge maps that may be better than anything their map builders have planned. The past four Arena maps that have come out have been unoriginal, uninteresting, and for the most part, ugly. At this point, 343 may want to rely on the community’s help. Ever since Forge was released in Halo 3, the Halo community has spawned talented and creative Forgers. So talented that should be hired as map designers. Over the years, many map creations have become widely loved by the community. Halo 5 isn’t the first Halo game that has had trouble creating good maps. Halo: Reach, Halo 4, and even Halo 2: Anniversary had a major problem in map variety. Most tournament organizers allowed community created maps to be implemented in the map rotation in games like Halo: Reach and Halo 4, and this proved to be very helpful when it came to keeping the game interesting and competitive. With Halo 5’s Forge arguably being the greatest Forge of all time, I am very confident that our community has created a large array of solid Arena maps. 343 has implemented quite a few community created Breakout maps to the Breakout playlist and most of them look amazing, so why doesn’t 343 do the same with Team Arena? If 343 is planning on implementing a few community created Arena maps for Team Arena, now is the time to do it. With the Pro League dormant, everyone, including the pros, will be much more tolerant toward community created maps in Team Arena.
