This event will take place from January 28th to the 31st and will bring in the top six teams from North America as well as the two top international teams to compete for a $30,000 prize pool as well as a chance to win an X Games medal.

For those of you who don’t know, X Games and MLG have worked together on three past events prior to this one, with their first being an event for Call of Duty: Ghosts, followed by one for CS:GO and later for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and DOTA 2. However, this is the first ever X Games featuring Halo.

The event will also be streamed live on WatchESPN, as well as traditional gaming stream services, Twitch.tv and MLG.tv.

At the end of 2015, with Call of Duty publisher Activision making a new deal with Sony, Xbox made it clear that they would be working with 343 Industries to make Halo 5 the main eSport played on Xbox One. This means that Xbox will be providing the same amount of support to Halo that they have shown to Call of Duty in recent years. With the Halo World Championship Tour making a stop at the X Games, we already see this happening.

This will be a historical moment for the Halo community and it’s definitely going to be a privilege for all the pro players participating. What do you think about the HWC going to the X Games? Let us know in the comments section below.
