PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting its third monthly update this Thursday, and the patch notes reveal every change that is coming to the popular battle royale title.
On top of loot balance changes and the addition of two new guns, PUBG is getting a bunch of other tweaks, including improvements to server performance, client performance, gameplay, items, vehicles, bug fixes, and UI changes.
Many of the changes are notable, including the ability to pick up items while moving, interacting with the environment (doors, items, vehicles) while reloading to cancel the reload, the ability to pull out pistols faster, and a variety of other quality of life changes.
“We are currently monitoring gameplay very carefully, and our data science team is spending much of their time preparing reports on how you play the game,” said Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene in the patch notes. “We plan to make continuing changes to improve play area size & speed, loot balance, and gunplay properties in order to provide an exciting and fair gaming experience to everyone.”
On the subject of cheaters, Greene said that the team at Bluehole Studio is working hard on monitoring and taking down those who are seeking to gain an unfair advantage.
“We have also been working hard to tackle down cheating players,” said Greene. “This is an ongoing battle, but one we are committed to fighting! We have banned 25,000+ users in the last 3 months, and work daily with [anti-cheat technology] BattlEye to add new protections and detections for cheats appearing on the market.”
Greene said that although server performance has improved a lot over the course of the past few patches, the team will continue to work on improving it, as well as client performance, over the coming weeks and months.
The update also includes two new weather settings, Sunset and Clear Skies, that were both announced at E3.
