LEGO Fortnite has quite a few survival features including hunger and cold. But that realism also extends to the structures you can create in this game, meaning you can’t simply move a building around with the click of a button.
Once you get comfortable in the new universe and start building things it may only take a few moments until you realize you placed a structure in the wrong place. This is where the problems begin as there’s no obvious way to move structures in LEGO Fortnite.
Can you move structures in LEGO Fortnite?
No, you can’t move structures in LEGO Fortnite. If you placed a building in the wrong place and want to move it, you’ll need to destroy it first, and then rebuild it in a new location. This affects all structures in the game including large buildings (houses, castles, stairs), stations, as well as furniture objects like beds, lamps, and shelves. Unfortunately, destruction is the only answer, and even your tutorial NPC will say the same.
How to destroy structures in LEGO Fortnite
If it’s time to level a building, you need to get the right tools. The best tool to destroy structures in LEGO Fortnite is a pickaxe. Don’t use an axe even when you are breaking a wooden object like a Log Cabin, as it deals less damage to structures.
If you are breaking down a big building, start by destroying the base of the structure. This way the rest will collapse and it’ll be easier for you to tear it apart. To speed up the process you can also use dynamite. It’s not that powerful (unless you are using barrels with dynamite) but once you get to the Dry Valley biome you’ll be sitting on a ton of Blast Powder, so might as well put it to good use.
Another thing to keep in mind is the tool’s wear. Starting tools can break very quickly and depending on the size, destroying something can take a good amount of swings. So be careful where you start building or you might need to spend some extra time and tools on remodeling.
Make sure to choose a flat and open surface as your new location. Uneven ground might give the structure a higher foundation that may look ugly.
Do you get materials back after destroying a structure?
Yes, you get all your materials refunded when destroying a structure or furniture. I used a bed and set of stairs to test this and in both cases, I’ve received the same amount of wood I spent on building them.
However, I noticed that when breaking a Dynamic Foundation, as well as objects related to it like Thrusters, I would get fewer materials back. It seems to be the only case where that happens but it’s worth keeping in mind.
