The Temple of Bhaal is late game dungeon in Baldur’s Gate 3. After taking the treacherous path through the Undercity Ruins, you will be met by even more challenges, as several locked doors in the Temple of Bhaal can only be opened by unconventional means.
How to unlock the Undercity Door in Baldur’s Gate 3
To unlock the Undercity Door, use a ranged attack to shoot down the hanging corpses that are ominously hung in a circular pattern. The platform will soon become covered in blood that will cause the temple doors to open.
If you are running the Solve the Open Hand Temple Murder quests, tell the Door “I killed the Murder Tribunal”, and the door will open.
With this pathway unlocked, you can now travel through the Undercity Ruins. Note that you will need to fight off various enemies along your way to the Temple of Bhaal, only to find another set of locked doors requiring a specific item for entry.
How to defeat Farslayer of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3
Before you enter the Temple of Bhaal, you will have to beat a boss named Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev. This boss needs to be killed before he finishes his ritual and ends your whole party. Farslayer has the power to insta-kill you and your party and end your game and on top of that, there are many enemies littering the area within the room.
You only need to kill Farslayer to progress and do not need to kill all of the enemies.
Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev stats:
- STR: 16
- DEX: 16
- CON: 16
- INT: 20
- WIS: 20
- CHA: 20
- HP: 68
- Passive Attack: Opportunity Attack
Close the gap between you and Farslayer and have you and your party whack at him all you can. This will break the barrier around him that takes around 5-9 hits. After this barrier is broken, you will deal actual damage.
Save your heavy-hitting attacks for when the barrier is broken.
How to find a way to access the Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3
In order to officially enter the Temple of Bhaal, you will need the Amulet of Bhaal. Before even descending into the Undercity, I highly recommend completing the Investigating the ‘Open Hand Temple Murders‘ questline to obtain the Amulet. The item can only be found off Sarevok Anchev, which the quest naturally leads you toward.
You can take out Sarevok Anchev at any point after you meet him in order to get the amulet. Now with the Amulet of Bhaal, you will get a new dialogue option that allows you to press the item against the large stone doors. By doing this, the path in front of you will open and you’ll be have officially entered the Temple of Bhaal.
