Changing your name in Apex Legends is more straightforward on PCs than on consoles. The process is slightly different for Steam and Origin, but changing your name on both platforms will take no longer than a few minutes.

Changing your Apex Legends name on Origin

The name that appears in Apex Legends comes from your Origin username. If you want to change it on this platform, you’ll need to change your profile.

  1. If you use Origin to play Apex, launch the Origin launcher. Click on your username, which can be found in the bottom-left corner of the launcher.
  2. Select “View My Profile,” then “Edit on EA.com” in the top-left. Players must use the EA website to make username changes, so once you click “Edit on EA.com,” you’ll be redirected to your EA account on the official website.
  3. Once you’re logged in, select “Edit” next to Basic Information and type your new username into the ID box.
  4. When satisfied, click “Save” to save your new name. Note that changing your ID will change your username across all games that use Origin.

The name change has to do with your Steam profile name, rather than an in-game name. If you make this change on Steam, it’s for every game you see moving forward.

  1. If you play Apex through Steam, pull up the Steam application. Click on your username in the upper-right corner of the window, then click “View Profile.”
  2. You’ll be brought to your Steam profile page. Click the “Edit Profile” button underneath your current Steam level. You can then type in your new name in the “Profile Name” box.
