Armor was a big addition to Call of Duty’s Zombies mode, offering a way for players to take more hits from the living dead without being downed. But in Black Ops 6, the way you get Armor is seemingly going to be different from previous titles.

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, players will be able to purchase Armor from wall buy locations using Essence, according to Activision. Essence is the main form of currency in CoD Zombies, also known as the points you accrue from killing hordes of the undead.

In Black Ops Cold War, Armor could drop from slain zombies or you could craft and upgrade to higher-level Armor by using Salvage, the mode’s other form of currency. But in Black Ops 6, it sounds like you’ll be using Essence instead of Salvage to buy and upgrade your Armor.

Activision says “there are likely to be two different types of Armor Wall Buys, and these increase your Armor Level.” Level two Armor comes in the Rare/Blue rarity and allows players to wear two Armor Plates. Level three Armor, on the other hand, is an Epic/Purple rarity item that lets players wear three Armor Plates.

The devs also said “once you visit an Armor Wall Buy, it ceases to function.” This suggests the Armor wall buys should be a one-time purchase, and you’ll likely only need to go back to an Armor wall buy if you die and respawn in a game with multiple players. In addition, Activision confirmed you can get Armor Plates as ground loot or from a Crafting Table. It’s possible, then, that Salvage might be used to craft Armor Plates but not actual Armor or Armor upgrades in Black Ops 6.

Having fully upgraded Armor is game-changing in CoD Zombies. In combination with the popular Jugger-Nog perk, which increases your max health, you should feel much safer and can take several hits without going down. If Armor is as effective in Black Ops 6 Zombies as it was in other recent CoD titles, finding level three Armor should be incredibly high on your priority list in each game.
