The colors, Mason. What do they mean?

As the round count increases in Call of Duty Zombies, players will constantly be looking for ways to improve their loadout. One of the fundamental ways to increase the damage you dish out in Black Ops 6 is by upgrading your weapon’s rarity.

Your weapon rarity in CoD: Black Ops 6 Zombies directly correlates to how strong your weapon is. The higher your weapon rarity is, the more damage you’ll deal.

Most Zombies players are probably aware of the Pack-a-Punch machine, the traditional way to upgrade your weapon in CoD Zombies dating back to 2008’s World at War. But in the more recent additions to the franchise, weapon rarities have been introduced as a further means to effectively neutralize hordes of the living dead.

While the Pack-a-Punch machine requires you to spend your points or Essence to upgrade your gun, weapon rarities are upgraded through the use of Salvage, the small green piles of junk that will randomly drop from slain zombies. In Black Ops 6, you’ll be able to use Salvage to upgrade your weapon’s rarity tier “via an Arsenal Machine,” according to Activision.

Here are the weapon rarities and upgrade tiers we’re expecting to see in Black Ops 6 Zombies, as well as their corresponding color and damage tier.

UncommonGreenTier two damage
RareBlueTier three damage
EpicPurpleTier four damage

The colors are probably the easiest way to remember the different weapon rarities. You’ll be able to see this color either when purchasing a weapon off a wall buy or from the Mystery Box, as well as in the bottom-right corner of your HUD behind your ammo numbers when you’re holding that particular gun. As the table above will tell you, you should only see the yellow Ultra rarity on Wonder Weapons, like the Ray Gun and Beamsmasher.

It’s unclear how much Salvage it will cost to upgrade to each weapon rarity in Black Ops 6 Zombies. Since there’s only one type of Salvage now, as opposed to two in Black Ops Cold War, we expect the numbers in Black Ops 6 to be slightly higher as you try to reach that highly coveted Legendary rarity. Details on the Salvage cost to upgrade weapons in Black Ops 6 Zombies will be added to this article when they become available, or when the game launches on Oct. 25.
