Black Myth: Wukong is packed with secrets and missable content, and the Loong Scales are an important pre-requisite to unlocking secret (and challenging) optional bosses. You might have encountered a waterfall blocking the way in Chapter One or a wall of sand in Chapter Two, and the Loong Scales are the key.
Loong Scales location in Black Myth Wukong
To get the Loong Scales Black Myth: Wukong, progress through Chapter Two until you face the Second Rat Prince and King of Flowing Sands. This is the first major boss in Chapter Two, and it’s essentially a straight shot from your starting point, so you can’t miss it.
Afterward, head left and activate the Keeper’s Shrine – Valley of Despair. From this Shrine, head left and through the cave. There are a few enemies, but you can run past them. You’ll enter a large cave area with another boss encounter inside—the First Prince of Flowing Sands.
This is a challenging optional encounter, but you need to beat it to get the Loong Scales because the area where you get them is only accessible from the First Prince’s boss arena. After you’ve beaten the boss, look for a crack in the wall you can squeeze through. You can see the exact location of the crack in my video above, at 00:20.
Squeeze through the crack and you’ll find a chest containing the Loong Scales inside. With them, you can clear the waterfall in Chapter One to access the secret boss fight against Red Loong, or clear the sandfall in Chapter Two to fight Black Loong.
