Black Myth: Wukong‘s transformation spells are some of the tools in the Destined One’s arsenal, and they can easily change the flow of a fight.

These powerful transformations can briefly change the Destined One’s form, granting him access to new attacks and effects—and, more importantly, a new health bar. One of those transformations can even use your spells, but it’s locked behind the trickiest fight in the game.

How to get all transformations in Black Myth Wukong

Red Tides

The Destined One takes the form of the wolf guai Guangzhi, who appears as an optional boss in Chapter One.

  • What it does: Light attacks slash at the enemy, heavy attacks trigger a powerful dash attack. Filling up its focus gauge lets you unleash a powerful heavy attack after a dodge.
  • How to get: Defeat Guangzhi in Chapter One.
  • Closest Shrine: Forest of Wolves, Outside the Forest (Black Wind Mountain)

Azure Dust

The Rock Guai is one of the most unusual transformations.

  • What it does: Light attack headbutts the enemy, heavy attacks tackle foes. Casting the Skullcrusher spell with high focus makes you leap and smash the ground with an AoE effect.
  • How to get: Complete the Man-In-Stone questline in Chapter Two.
  • Closest Shrine: Fright Cliff, Squall Hideout (Yellow Wind Gate)

Ashen Slumber

The Ashen Slumber transformation turns the Destined One into a two-headed rat.

  • What it does: Light attacks deal damage and build focus, heavy attacks blow flames at enemies. Deactivating the transformation causes you to explode and deal area damage.
  • How to get: Speak to the hidden rats in Sandgate Village, then find him in the Great Pagoda. We missed this one in our first playthrough but found it thanks to Gamer Guru.
  • Closest Shrine: Pagoda Realm, Lower Pagoda (The New West)

Ebon Flow

  • What it does: Blocking and attacking builds up energy. Unleashing a heavy attack with full focus uses a strong sword attack.
  • How to get: Complete the Chen Loong quest on the North Shore of the Bitter Lake, obtain the Ruyi Scroll, and beat Yin Tiger on a challenge. You also receive an extra Curio slot.
  • Closest Shrine: Ruyi Scroll

Hoarfrost

The Destined One takes the form of a tentacled guai from Chapter Three.

  • What it does: Light attacks beat foes with tentacles, heavy attacks cause an area-of-effect sweep. Using its Ice Sheet spell with at least one Focus deals damage and enables new attacks.
  • How to get: Beat Monk from the Sea in Chapter Three. Find him by taking the short path on the right of the temple entrance.
  • Closest Shrine: New Thunderclap Temple, Temple Entrance (The New West)

Umbral Abyss

The Macaque Chief transformation uses a downward slash in Black Myth Wukong.

  • What it does: Light attacks deal damage, charge Focus, and inflict Frost. Heavy attack combo deals more damage but is slower. Casting Cold Heart creates an area of effect, and casting it again deals extra damage.
  • How to get: Available by finishing the main story in Chapter Three.

Violet Hail

A worm guai stabs itself as one of Black Myth Wukong's transformations.
Not the flashiest, but still effective if you can get it right. Screenshot by Dot Esports
  • What it does: Heavy attacks draw life to infuse your sword with larvae. The light attack spreads poison bane and deals damage. Casting Hive Mind causes the larvae to explode, damaging enemies and regenerating health. De-transforming triggers another explosion.
  • How to get: Beat Daoist Mi in the Chapter Four secret area before killing the Duskveil boss. Unlocking the secret area requires the Venom Daoist quest.
  • Closest Shrine: Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain, Valley of Blooms (The Webbed Hollow)

Golden Lining

The Destined One transforms into the Yellow Loong and thrusts with his halbeard.

  • What it does: Light attacks deal damage and inflict Thunder Bane. Heavy attacks deal damage. Following a light attack with a heavy attack lets you see through enemies and gain focus.
  • How to get: Finish the secret Loong questline by beating the four secret Loong bosses in chapters one through four).
  • Closest Shrine: Webbed Hollow, Relief of the Fallen Loong.

Dark Thunder

  • What it does: Light and heavy attacks deal damage and build Focus. Once charged, you can cast Lightning Infusion to empower your attacks.
  • How to get: Complete the Horse Guai (Ma Tianba) questline by talking to him in each location before
  • Closest Shrine: Furnace Valley, Valley Entrance, Chapter Five.

Azure Dome

  • What it does: Light punches build Focus, but heavy attacks do a smash punch that spends Focus. Stone Monkey can cast your Spells.
  • How to get: Achieve the secret Great Pagoda ending.
