As announced by the developers themselves in an Aug. 14 Steam post, Splitgate 2‘s Alpha playtest begins on Aug. 21 and will last until Aug. 25.

To participate in the playtest, players can go to the game’s Steam page and press the Request Access button, or watch Twitch streams of the test itself for a chance to earn a key drop. Neither of these methods will guarantee you access to the Splitgate 2 Alpha, though you could increase your chance by opting to do both simultaneously.

As things stand, Splitgate 2 doesn’t have precise release date, though the developers have named 2025 as the possible launch window. This means the game could drop at any point during the next year, and it’s likely its development will speed or slow down depending on how much feedback the Alpha playtest gets. If you happen to be at Gamescom this year, you will have a chance to play Splitgate 2 there and see if the game is worthy of your attention.
