Shroud thinks the Apex Legends Wingman nerf was useless

Would it have been better to leave the gun as is?

Twitch streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek thinks the recent Apex Legends patch did little to address the real issue of the overpowered Wingman revolver.

While streaming the wildly-popular battle royale game on Wednesday, Shroud questioned why Apex developer Respawn Entertainment even bothered with their recent Wingman nerf.

“I personally don’t think the Wingman nerf was enough,” Shroud said. “I don’t think they did anything, really.”

In a Reddit post regarding the patch, Respawn detailed the changes put into place for the high-powered weapon. Its rate of fire dropped from 3.1 shots per second to 2.6. Its hip fire spread was increased, while its hip fire spread decay was decreased. Finally, the Skullpiercer mod’s headshot damage multiplier was reduced from 2.5x to 2.25x.

“If they were gonna nerf fire rate, they needed to really nerf it, or don’t touch the fire rate at all and just nerf the damage,” Shroud said. “Skullpierce wasn’t even the issue. I don’t think they realize that, Skullpierce didn’t matter.”

Shroud was playing with Twitch streamer TheAnneMunition at the time, who said, “maybe they were afraid of over-nerfing it?”

“That’s what they are afraid of, because they want it to be the best gun,” Shroud said. “Which I think is fine, but… you know, you can nerf it a little harder than that.”
