On Nov. 8, the developer announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s first trailer would debut in “early December” 2023. With both The Game Awards 2023 and Rockstar Games’ 25th Anniversary taking place in this time frame, we expected the GTA 6 trailer to be released on one of these dates—but we were wrong.

We’ve already waited years for GTA 6, and counting the days to its first trailer has felt even longer at times, but that ends in a just few days when we get a first glimpse of the legendary franchise’s latest instalment. Here’s when the first GTA 6 trailer will release.

GTA 6 trailer release date

Rockstar Games announced on Dec.1 that the first GTA 6 trailer will come out on Dec. 5, at 9am ET/8am CT. It’s sooner than we thought and the only hint we have so far is the background image Rockstar Games chose to use on Twitter.

In the background image of the announcement tweet gives us a Vice City-esque feeling. Prior to the trailer, rumors regarding where Grand Theft Auto 6 will be set pointed at Vice City, and we will finally get a definitive answer on Dec. 5 when the trailer goes live.

We expect GTA 6 talks and content from Rockstar to escalate after the first trailer. So far in the journey, everything we know about Grand Theft Auto 6 was limited as all we had were leaks and our wishlists. With the game finally making its first public appearance, we will be able to see what Rockstar Games has been cooking in the kitchen for all this time.

Even if there isn’t a secondary trailer release planned in the next few months, small bits of information regarding the game’s finer details would be much appreciated by the fans.
