Some of the most powerful and popular cards in the current Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game meta should be on their way to Master Duel soon.
The timeline for when cards are added to Master Duel differs from their release in the physical card game. As a result, some cards that are dominating the current TCG and OCG events aren’t available in Master Duel until several months later. That’s the case with two recent archetypes in particular: Spright and Tearlaments.
Spright and Tearlaments are two of the most popular decks right now. The Spright archetype focuses on Level, Rank, and Link 2 monsters, while the Tearlaments strategy revolves around milling cards from your deck and Fusion Summoning.
The archetypes were introduced in the physical card game’s Power of the Elements set, which became available in North America in August 2022. Thus, if Konami sticks to its usual trend in terms of adding new cards to Master Duel, these two powerhouse decks could be added to the digital game soon.
Spright confirmed release date in Master Duel
The Spright archetype is officially coming to Master Duel on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Konami revealed the news with an in-game message on Feb. 9 about the next Selection Pack called Sprites of Miracle. And based on that name, it should be obvious that the Spright archetype is on the way.
“In addition to the new ‘Spright’ archetype, new ‘Elemental HERO’ and ‘Morphtronic’ cards have also been added,” Konami said. Two of the highlighted Ultra Rare (UR) cards in this Selection Pack are unsurprisingly Gigantic Spright and Spright Elf, which are two of the staple Extra Deck cards for the Spright archetype.
Tearlaments confirmed release date in Master Duel
The Tearlaments archetype finally has an official release date in Master Duel: April 10. These powerful cards will be introduced in the upcoming Blessings of Nature Selection Pack. “Two new archetypes are here—’Vernusylph’ and ‘Tearlaments’—as well as new cards for ‘Amazoness,’ ‘Melffy,’ and more,” Konami’s in-game Master Duel announcement reads.
For any TCG or OCG players who are worried about Tearlaments becoming a “tier zero” deck in Master Duel on release, Konami is taking preemptive measures by immediately adding a handful of the new cards to the Forbidden and Limited list. One of the deck’s staple Fusion monsters, Tearlaments Kitkallos, has already been Limited, along with the archetype’s powerful Field Spell, Primeval Planet Perlereino. Tearlaments Scheiren, Tearlaments Merrli, and Tearlaments Havnis will also be Semi-Limited at release.
“Our aim with this is to provide a dynamic dueling experience through the introduction of new cards while also managing the risk and severity of reduced diversity in the game due to these cards’ potential popularity,” Konami said.
Master Duel players will finally be able to try out the all-powerful Tearlaments archetype when the cards are officially added to the digital game on April 10.
