Profaned Tinderboxes are one of the most expensive crafting reagents in WoW The War Within. You need them for lots of different professions, but they’re frustratingly hard to come by. At the time of writing, they’re selling for a whopping 6,700 Gold apiece on the auction house.
If you need Profaned Tinderboxes for your profession or want to sell them to make a sweet pile of cash, I’ll explain the best method to farm them right here.
Best Profaned Tinderbox farming spot in WoW The War Within
The best place to get Profaned Tinderboxes in WoW The War Within is the Nightfall Sanctum Delve in western Hallowfall. It’s just south of the Priory of Sacred Flame, in a cave at the bottom of a waterfall, at coordinates 34.3, 47.3.
Players on Wowhead are reporting that a Profaned Tinderbox is a guaranteed drop from a Sturdy Chest at the end of the Delve. It seems this chest has a 100 percent chance to drop a Profaned Tinderbox once a week per account.
Profaned Tinderboxes also have a very small chance of appearing in lootable chests and containers throughout the world, but there’s such a small drop chance, this isn’t a reliable farming method.
So, the fastest way to farm Profaned Tinderboxes is to repeatedly run the Nightfall Sanctum Delve on level one—the easiest difficulty. You’re guaranteed to get one Profaned Tinderbox each week, and Brann has a chance to find more.
How to use Profaned Tinderbox in WoW The War Within
In The War Within, you need Profaned Tinderboxes for certain profession recipes. Leatherworkers, Enchanters, and Blacksmiths need them to make specific armor pieces and enchants. If you have one of those professions, I strongly recommend you remember to get your guaranteed Profaned Tinderbox from Nightfall Sanctum every week.
If you don’t have any of those professions but do stumble upon some Profaned Tinderboxes, sell them now while the price is high. We don’t know if Blizzard will increase the drop rate or if players will discover new ways to farm them, so you should take advantage of the high demand to line your pockets as much as possible.
