Vyse is the sixth sentinel agent in VALORANT. As exciting as it sounds to have a new site anchor, her metallic powers can initially be tricky to understand. The good news is that once you understand her kit, you can be the rattiest and the most annoying player in your ranked games with her radiant technology. Don’t worry, though—we’ve explained everything you need to know about Vyse’s abilities in VALORANT below.

What are Vyse’s abilities in VALORANT?

Like all VALORANT agents, Vyse has four abilities: One signature, two basic, and one ultimate.

Arc Rose (E)

Vyse’s E ability reads: Equip an Arc Rose. Target a surface and Fire to place a hidden Arc Rose. Alternatively, you can Alt Fire to place the Arc Rose through the surface. Reuse to blind all players looking at it. You can pick this ability up and redeploy it. You get only one charge of Arc Rose.

Finally, a VALORANT sentinel who can blind their enemies. It’s exciting to imagine how creative players can get with this unique piece of utility. Arc Rose doesn’t activate automatically, so Vyse has to be very vigilant of an enemy’s moves and activate it with timing to find value. It can also blind teammates, so yet another quirk to keep in mind.

Enemies can dodge the flash like they can for other blinding abilities in VALORANT. But from the looks of it, it ain’t easy to dodge.

Shear (Q)

Vyse’s Q ability reads: Equip filaments of liquid metal. Fire to place a hidden wall trap. When an enemy crosses and triggers it, an indestructible wall bursts from the ground behind them. The wall lasts for a brief time before dissipating. You get one charge of Shear per round.

This ability is an excellent way to isolate fights. E.g., you can place a Shear at site entrances to isolate aggressive duelists, making it difficult for their teammates to take a trade kill on you. While you can always choose to “setup” in a site, use this ability on the fly; you can’t pick it up and redeploy.

Razorvine (C)

Vyse’s C ability reads: Equip a nest of liquid metal. Fire to launch. Upon landing, the nest becomes invisible. Vyse can detonate the nest when she wants by pressing F. Upon activation, the nest sprawls out into a large razor vine nest, slowing and damaging all players moving through it. You get two charges of Razorvine.

The razor vine nest only deals damage (minus six HP for every unit of displacement) if the enemy caught in it moves. Otherwise, they’ll only be inflicted with a Slow. Despite the low damage, it’s a powerful anti for anyone to tackle, especially duelists. Vyse can’t pick up a Razorvine once deployed, so you’d want to use it carefully and preferably on the fly.

Steel Garden (Ultimate, X)

Vyse’s Ultimate ability reads: Equip a bramble of liquid metal. Fire to send the metal erupting from you as a torrent of metal thorns, “jamming” the primary weapons of enemies caught in its area after a brief windup. Primary weapons will be jammed for a few seconds; enemies can still use their secondary weapon. You need eight ult points to charge Steel Garden.

Steel Garden can be powerful in retake and attack scenarios, forcing enemies to fall back and respect your team’s strats. It also has a significant area of effect, so it’s hard to miss. Enemies will have to stay on their toes when Vyse’s ultimate is online.

Vyse enters the battlefield in VALORANT Episode Nine, Act Two on Aug. 28.
