Riot Games banned Yasin “Nisay” Gök for 12 months today for cheating in a VALORANT ranked match, according to esports insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau.
NisaY’s contract with his team, Beşiktaş Esports, was immediately terminated, according to the organization.
At one point, NisaY held the No. 1 spot on the EU ranked leaderboards. NisaY claimed he was de-ranked from Radiant to Immortal and was reaching out to Riot’s Vanguard anti-cheat team to resolve the situation.
NisaY professed his innocence in a TwitLonger. “I’m not so stupid enough to cheat just because I am Radiant in a competitive match,” NisaY said, according to a translation of his TwitLonger. “They said they did not encounter anything like this at any tournament by Riot. We went through a long time and were constantly exchanging information with Riot. When we asked them what 3rd party software etc. would you show us evidence, we were under community pressure and they said they wouldn’t.”
Beşiktaş earned a top-eight placing at First Strike Turkey in 2020.
