In VALORANT, there are many roles to choose from as you build the perfect team composition. There’s one role, though, that might not see as much of the limelight but is essential to victory on any map: the ever-reliable sentinel agent.

Sentinels are defensive-minded agents who lock down sites with their various abilities, whether they’re providing information for their squad, preventing the opposing team from rushing onto a site, or holding down a flank to protect their teammates. Some sentinel agents can absolutely shut down a push, heal their teammates, and can even snatch an enemy and drag them to their death.

Overall, the sentinel role is a necessary position for any team, whether you’re jumping into a quick game of solo queue or playing in the finals of VALORANT Champions. Here are all of the sentinel agents who have been released in VALORANT, marked by release date.

Since VALORANT’s official release in 2020, there have only been five different sentinels added to the agent roster. The first three sentinel agents were released in its inaugural year, while the fourth was dropped a year later. It took Riot Games two more years to release a new sentinel agent, with Deadlock being the last agent to join the role in 2023.

There are, however, some leaks that suggest the next agent being added to the game will be a sentinel, which would bring the role up to par with the rest of the roster. Currently, the sentinel role has the least amount of playable agents when compared to the initiators, controllers, and duelists.
