Jenna “Meowri”—who was responsible for Twitch streamers Mizkif and Esfand receiving seven-day bans—made a controversial statement on a recent stream regarding why she got her legal team involved in the first place.

“Anything I contacted my lawyers with was just in regards to me being unprofessional as far as, like, just being on camera intoxicated,” Meowri said during her stream on Wednesday. “I just didn’t want that out there.”

On April 30, Esfand released a lengthy statement on Twitter confirming he and his friend Mizkif had both received temporary bans in response to an incident that occurred at PAX East between them and Meowri.

“We had a stream at PAX East where we ran into another streamer/cosplayer,” Esfand said. “She was basically making Mizkif out to be her bitch. Doing things such as getting in his face and telling him to call her ‘daddy,’ and essentially ‘faux-dom behavior,’ for the sake of humor.”

“At some point in the middle of this, I turned the camera away for a few seconds, and when the camera turned back to Mizkif he said, ‘She just sucked my dick!” in which I sarcastically replied, ‘…REALLY?'”

The pair didn’t think anything particular of the incident until Meowri messaged Esfand several days later saying she didn’t appreciate the joke. Esfand believed they had settled the matter privately and expected nothing else to come of it.

A month after that private conversation, Meowri’s lawyers contacted Twitch, resulting in their seven-day bans. For full-time streamers, a ban of any duration is damaging to their income, potential business dealings, and most notably, their reputations.

Now based off her most recent comments, it appears Meowri is claiming she didn’t get her counsel involved to take up a sexual harassment claim with Twitch, but rather just to have the relevant clips removed from the platform out of embarrassment.

“In my position, I feel like if a man had talked to a woman like that, like, he would’ve gotten so much shit, so that doesn’t make it okay for me to do it,” Meowri said.

Meowri is referring to her making Mizkif call her “daddy,” asking if he was a “bitch,” and putting her face extremely close to his, among other things.

“I just wanted that [footage] taken down,” she said. “I never filed for sexual harassment.”

Other streamers like Trainwrecks did not take kindly to her explanation.

“So you made a mistake, you acted unprofessionally, you made a bad decision, you messed up,” Train said. “And in order to fix your error, you took away the reputation of Esfand and Mizkif, gave them sexual harassment on their record for the rest of their lives on the internet, and got them seven-day banned.”

After serving their bans, Mizkif and Esfand have since returned to Twitch with warm welcomes from their communities and without having lost any publicly-known sponsorship or brand deals.
