According to Twitch streamer and attorney Ryan “BJPOfficial” Willett, his brother Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris turned down a major brand deal just so he could leave his schedule open to play World of Warcraft Classic.
BJP was discussing the financial agreements in Tfue’s leaked contract with FaZe Clan on Thursday when he took a chance to defend Soda’s integrity.
“Please, for those of y’all watching this, and you’re on Reddit or one of [Soda’s] YouTube videos, or wherever else, please don’t ever call my little brother a sellout again,” he said. “I know it’s a meme and I know it’s funny and all, but if Chance really wanted to sell out, he could.”
He continued by saying Soda’s viewers wouldn’t believe the types of contracts and offers he passes up on. Then, after questioning if he should continue on the topic, BJP decided to give a recent example of Soda’s decision-making process.
“Chance passed up a major deal recently that was gonna be huge and it was gonna make a lot of money,” BJP said.
BJP said the deal in question was very lucrative and that after reviewing the contract thoroughly, everything was on the up-and-up for it to be a success for Soda.
“He was like ‘Ryan, I can’t do it,” BJP said. When he asked why, Soda initially didn’t think he could tell him, but upon remembering his brother is also his attorney, he revealed the reason.
“Ryan…it’s the first day Classic is coming out. I ain’t missing that.”
Despite it meaning the contract would have to be declined, BJP said he was impressed with Soda and admired him for putting his passions in front of business.
There’s no doubt it would have to be hard for the brothers to turn away what was likely a considerable amount of money, but based on Soda having regular real estate on r/LivestreamFail with WoW clips for the past week, it seems to have worked out just fine.
