Shroud criticizes spammy Twitch communities like xQc’s and Greek’s

“I don’t want this kind of people in my community.”

Superstar Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek doesn’t want people in his chat talking about scrambled eggs and urinating on a chair.

While shroud was playing Apex Legends last night, one of his subscribers wrote that the streamer made incredible scrambled eggs and told him to relieve himself right there after he said “I need to piss so bad.” These two messages came a few seconds apart from each other, which prompted the streamer to call out his subscriber live and say why he doesn’t want spammy and random comments like this.

“He just slaps his keyboard and doesn’t think about what he’s saying,” shroud said about the subscriber. He said it’s not that the comments had anything offensive or wrong about them, but that they were just spammy and had no reason to be there. “It was like an IcePoseidon viewer, or xQc, Greek,” shroud said. “I don’t want this kind of people in my community.”

Other people in shroud’s chat thought he was criticizing these streamers, but shroud said there were no shots fired. “That has nothing to do with the person,” he said, as a mention to the streamers. “I’m just referring to the community. It’s their choice that they don’t want to moderate. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that.”

During broadcasts of streamers like those shroud mentioned, it’s common to see people spamming emotes and copy-pasted messages. The chat becomes flooded with random text and no one gets banned or suspended since streamers disable automatic chat moderation. This is usually something streamers choose—to give their viewers the freedom to say whatever they want. But this can turn the chat both into a loyal, highly-engaged community and a toxic environment.

Shroud’s chat has both automatic and real moderators. With his current point of view regarding chat behavior, players can expect his community to be spam-free and less random than other streamers’ chats.
