The long-awaited release date for Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC has finally been confirmed, but fans are being treated to a huge update tonight, too.

Starfield’s DLC was long touted for a fall 2024 release, but with every month that passed, fans got increasingly eager to hear more. During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on Aug. 20, their wishes came true.

Shattered Space will arrive on Sept. 30, bringing a whole new adventure to the world of Starfield. But you won’t be left empty-handed in the meantime as one of the most anticipated updates will drop tonight.

The omission of land vehicles in Starfield at launch was seen as a huge oversight, leaving players needing to traverse massive distances by foot if they wanted to truly explore everything the galaxy had to offer. But those marathons are coming to an end now.

The REV-8 vehicle is not just restricted for travel, however, as the trailer showed it’s also capable of assisting in fights, jumping great distances, and even mining for resources.

Players can get the REV-8 by visiting a ship technician in any major city to install a new vehicle module and the vehicle will deploy outside your ship wherever you land. The REV-8 vehicle will also be customizable with colors, though not with the same depth as Starfield’s modular ship-building.

The free update on Aug. 20 also includes a new frame rate target setting for Xbox Series S and the ability to prioritize between visuals and performance while trying to maintain the set target. Additionally, VSync can be turned on and off.

Come late September, when Shattered Space drops, players can explore a “brand new, completely handcrafted location” with the story of House Va’ruun.

Players who purchased the Premium Edition, Premium Edition Upgrade, or the Constellation Edition will receive Shattered Space for no additional cost.
