One of the more enjoyable aspects of Starfield for many players is finding and customizing a fleet of ships. If you’re one of those players and are looking for an easy ship to add to your fleet, I present the Datura, one of the simplest ships to acquire.
The Datura was originally owned by a woman named Malai Liskova, who you can meet by going on a specific quest. While taking ownership of the Datura is not an objective on this quest or even something the game tells you is possible, you can easily take it for yourself by following a few key steps. Then, you have essentially scored yourself a free ship that you can use, customize, or sell for a few extra bucks.
Getting the Datura ship in Starfield
You can only acquire the Datura by starting the Ryujin Industries questline in Starfield. We have a full guide on how to do exactly that, but the short version is you have to visit a city called Neon and pass a job interview to start working for the company.
Keep completing quests for Ryujin until you start one called Top Secrets. Once that happens, you can follow the steps to take ownership of the Datura.
- The Top Secrets quest occurs around halfway through the Ryujin questline, so you need to complete around five quests for the faction to trigger it. It comes directly after a quest called “Maintaining the Edge.”
- During Top Secrets, you have to travel to Cydonia on Mars and speak with a man named Simon Ryczek.
- Upon speaking with Ryczek, he will offer you a job in exchange for some valuable information. While it’s possible to get the information without doing the job, you need to accept his offer if you want the Datura.
- Ryczek’s offer will be a job that involves killing a bounty hunter, Malai Liskova, who has been after him for years. Liskova is in the Datura ship orbiting Saturn and you need to retrieve her gun to prove to Ryczek she’s dead.
- Go to Saturn’s orbit, where Liskova will contact you on board the Datura. Here, you can either persuade Liskova to let you board or be hostile and blow her up. It’s imperative you board the ship so you can speak to her.
- On board the Datura, you have to kill Liskova. Once she’s dead, take her gun, called Ember, and then take control of the Datura by entering the pilot’s seat. Then, fly the Datura to any ship services station, register it, and she’s officially yours.
With the Datura in your possession, you can fly it back to Cydonia on Mars, show Ryczek the Ember gun as proof Liskova is dead, and he will give you the information you need to continue on with the Ryujin questline in Starfield.
