Quartz is a valuable crafting component in Stardew Valley typically used to create crystalline or electronic recipes. There are two special forms of Quartz, Fire and Refined Quartz, which are both considerably harder to find.
In Stardew Valley, many of the best crafting materials are found in the most dangerous places. This is the case for Fire Quartz and Refined Quartz, as you’ll need to delve deep into the mines to find this reagent.
How to get Fire Quartz in Stardew Valley
Fire Quartz can be typically found deep in the Mines, from floor 80 onwards, or within the Skull Cavern out in the desert. It also has a chance to be found inside either a Magma geode or an Omni geode, though it’s more common to find in a Magma geode. There’s even a small chance to find it while panning or inside a fishing treasure chest.
Fire Quartz looks like traditional Quartz except it’s glowing red. It’s used to complete the Geologist’s Bundle in the Community Center and is needed to craft the Slime Egg Press.
All Fire Quartz recipes in Stardew Valley
Compared to Refined Quartz, Fire Quartz is comparably used in far fewer recipes. The only recipe which currently uses the mineral is the Slime Egg-Press. You can get this recipe after reaching Combat level six. Below are all the reagents necessary to create this item:
- Slime Egg-Press (Compresses 100 pieces of slime into one Slime Egg)
- x25 Coal
- x1 Fire Quartz
- x1 Battery Pack
Strangely enough, Fire Quartz is actually a great gift to give! All but Leah, Linus, and Pierre like Fire Quartz as a gift. Whether you’re romancing Abigail or Sebastian, consider sending your loved one a Fire Quartz.
How to get Refined Quartz in Stardew Valley
Refined Quartz can be made by smelting Quartz or Fire Quartz in a Furnace. One piece of raw Quartz can be smelted with one piece of Coal to produce one piece of Refined Quartz, but one piece of raw Fire Quartz will make three pieces of Refined Quartz.
Refined Quartz can also be made by recycling either a Broken CD or a pair of Broken Glasses in a Recycling Machine. In addition, it’s a rare drop from ghosts in the Mines or the Skull Cavern. You can also obtain Refined Quartz by fishing in Ghostfish Fish Ponds, but only after the population reaches nine.
All Refined Quartz recipes in Stardew Valley
Refined Quartz can be used in seven total different recipes in Stardew Valley. Quartz is the resource I tend to value the most in Stardew Valley, as all the recipes using this reagent will make your life much easier and your farm work far more efficiently.
Item | Description | Reagents | Recipe Source |
Crystal Floor | Floor tile | x1 Refined Quartz | Krobus (costs 500g) |
Crystal Path | Floor tile | x1 Refined Quartz | Carpenter’s Shop (costs 200g) |
Farm Computer | Displays useful farm information | x10 Refined Quartz x1 Dwarf Gad | Demetrius |
Garden Pot | Grows crops from any season, but must be placed indoors | x1 Refined Quartz x1 Clay x10 Stone | Evelyn |
Lightning Rod | Collects energy from lightning and produces Battery Packs | x1 Refined Quartz x5 Bat Wings x1 Iron Bar | Unlocked after reaching Foraging level six. |
Quality Sprinkler | Waters eight tiles every morning automatically | x1 Refined Quartz x1 Gold Bar x1 Iron Bar | Unlocked after reaching Farming level six. |
Solar Panel | Generates Battery Packs after seven days of sunlight | x10 Refined Quartz x5 Iron Bar x5 Gold Bar | Caroline |
As you can tell, many of the recipes which use Refined Quartz require you to level up several skills such as Farming and Foraging. The two most useful items you can make with Refined Quartz are the Quality Sprinkler and Solar Panel.
The Sprinkler automatically waters eight adjacent tiles every morning, meaning you no longer need to perform this tedious task manually. The Solar Panels and Lightning Rod are both extremely important in farming Battery Packs, which are used to power plenty of other advanced crafting recipes.
