It’s natural that new video games have more demanding requirements than older titles. The rapidly developing hardware technology allows games to stun us with beautiful visuals and that comes at the acceptable price of periodically updating our hardware setup, be it new PC parts or a next-gen console. With all that taken into consideration, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s download size still manages to stun us way before we’ve seen its hopefully gorgeous visuals.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has the task of keeping the momentum that Fallen Order created for EA’s Star Wars saga. The Battlefronts 2 debacle and the general distaste for recent Star Wars movies created a difficult environment in which EA had to revive gamers’ hype for stories from the galaxy far, far away. Thankfully, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order turned out quite well, and now Survivor is hoping to build on that.

One thing the new game has definitely built up over the last is size. The official announcement of Survivor’s download size has unveiled just how massive the game is.
What is the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor download size?
PC
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor requires 155 GB of free drive space on PC. This is up 25 GB from the figure of 130 GB which was widely accepted as confirmed before EA’s official announcement. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s 155 GB download size also makes it three times larger than Fallen Order, which came out just four years ago. At this rate, we might need an entire 1 TB SSD to store a couple of AAA games by 2025.
PlayStation 5
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor begins to shrink in size once we move away from PC, albeit slowly at first. The PlayStation 5 download size of Survivor is just a tiny bit smaller, coming in at 148 GB. While this is 8 GB less than the PC version, it is still unquestionably a behemoth of a game that will take over a large chunk of your console’s storage space even if you’ve upgraded it from its base value.
Xbox Series X
The Series X enjoys another round of diminishing download size. The difference between what storage PS5 and Series X players will need for Survivor is virtually the same as the one between the PS5 and PC. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have a download size of precisely 140 GB on the Xbox Series X. We’re still far off small game territory, but it’s Xbox owners that get the smallest Star Wars Jedi: Survivor download size bragging rights.
Xbox Series S?
The Series S is where the storage economy class really is. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have a download size of just 44 GB on the Xbox Series S. This is by far the tiniest of all versions, more than three times smaller than any other Survivor offering.
We can’t know if this is a blessing or a curse until Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s official launch on April 28. Saving 100 GB of storage space, especially on a console with limited upgrade paths, is a net positive. Then there is the fear that this saved storage will come at the expense of getting a lower-quality product. These extra 100 GB are there for a reason and only time will tell if the Series S will get the short end of the stick.
After all, Fallen Order was of a similar size and that game still looks impressive today. Series S owners can hold on to that as consolation ahead of April 28. Another development that could bring a smile to Xbox players’ faces is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor being on Xbox Game Pass at launch. If everything rolls in the right direction, Xbox could be the platform feeling the happiest with Survivor.
