He’s already stealing hearts everywhere as the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog in the upcoming live-action sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but Keanu Reeves has made it perfectly clear that he isn’t done playing the character just yet.
At Tuesday’s State of Play, it was announced that Keanu Reeves would be returning as the voice of Shadow for an upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations DLC, fittingly named the “Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack.” Sonic the Hedgehog 3 arrives in theaters on Dec. 20, but fans can enjoy the DLC a week early as it drops on Dec. 12.
As the name suggests, the “Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack” will reenact scenes from the upcoming third installment, where he voices Shadow alongside Ben Schwartz’s Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s Tails, and Idris Elba’s Knuckles the Echidna. Reeves also famously voiced another video game character—Johnny Silverhand—in Cyberpunk 2077 alongside his Sonic co-star Idris Elba, who portrayed Solomon Reed, a character added to the Phantom Liberty expansion.
About a month ago, Paramount dropped the first trailer for Sonic 3 to give audiences a taste of Reeves’ Shadow. He seems to hold his own alongside the established main cast, making his presence in Sonic x Shadow Generations more exciting (at least, we think so).
Sonic x Shadow Generations will act as a parallel story to 2011’s Sonic Generations and follow Shadow as he takes on his archenemy, Black Doom. It’s scheduled for release on Oct. 25 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. You can pre-order now to access the game days early on Oct. 22.
