A third esports organization has been confirmed for the gamescom PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Invitational, and it’s a brand new roster. Team Liquid announced that they’ll be fielding a PUBG team earlier today. The roster features Oliver “Ollywood” Tell, Björn “Molnman” Jansson, Daniel “Hayz” Heaysman, and “Scoom,” and they will compete at gamescom at the end of August.
Liquid is known for its role in a variety of esports titles, including League of Legends, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and fighting games. PUBG seems to be the next popular spot for organizations like Liquid. “While many other teams have sought stream-focused team rosters, we decided to seek the most talented players on the Western servers,” said Steve Arhancet, Liquid’s co-CEO and co-owner, in the organization’s official announcement. “Scoom, Molnman, Hayz and Ollywood caught our attention with their insane stats and likable personalities. We want to support these players so that they can place highly in the competitions to come. PUBG is still in the early stages of its life and the meta and balance are still evolving, and it will be exciting to see how the game evolves.” Liquid will join TSM and Cloud9 as teams confirmed for the gamescom Invitational, while Team EnVyUs owner Mike “Hastr0” Rufail has also recently expressed interest in a PUBG team. The gamescom PUBG Invitational takes place from Aug. 23 to 26 in Cologne, Germany.
