PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be getting an official mobile version in China, according to a report by news site Tech.qq.
Tencent will be behind the new version of the game, which is said to be a “genuine mobile port,” as it is hoping to retain as many qualities of the PC version of PUBG as possible.
The prospect of this is ambitious, considering the PC version has issues of its own, especially when it comes to optimization and running well. But the release says that the mobile version will allow “players jumping over to mobile…to take advantage of their play on PC and maintain a consistent experience.”
“Thanks to PUBG’s outstanding performance on the PC platform and the close cooperation between the two teams, the recent development of the mobile platform has been very successful,” the Tech.qq story quoted Kim Changhan, CEO of PUBG Corp, and Ma Xiaoyi, senior VP of Tencent, as saying. “Very soon, the majority of Chinese players will be able to enjoy the real game any time and anywhere on mobile.”
No release window was given for the game other than “soon.” New information and progress will be also be revealed “in the near future.”
