PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds just keeps getting bigger. The early access battle royale title just reached over 500,000 concurrent players, according to Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene. This news comes less than a week after the game reached the third-highest peak player count in Steam history, behind only Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Whatever way you look at it, PUBG is an astounding success.

This week’s monthly update saw the inclusion of first person-only games and cosmetic microtransactions, and the game’s community has been buzzing because of it. PUBG’s first LAN event will also take place at the end of the month at gamescom, featuring pro teams like TSM and Cloud9. PUBG is great as it is now, but the game will only get better. With weekly and monthly updates planned for the foreseeable future, the game will continue to improve. And once it’s out of early access, it will also expand to the Xbox One console, and continue to grow. With seemingly everyone playing PUBG, and the game being at or near the top of Twitch’s directory, it doesn’t look like this momentum will be slowing down anytime soon.
