PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds passed three million concurrent players on Steam today, as it continues to break its own record in the category.
Earlier in the year, PUBG passed previous top concurrent player count title Dota 2, and the player count has only risen since then. PUBG passed two million concurrent players on Oct. 11.
PUBG has faced some stiff competition on PC with the success of Fortnite: Battle Royale in the same genre, but its popularity has not waned. Plus, the game is also now available on Xbox One.
The game released out of Steam early access on Dec. 20, and has already received an update to fix more issues. BattlEye also confirmed that 1.5 million accounts have been banned for hacking.
As 2017 comes to a close, PUBG still looks to retain its status as one of the most-played games on the internet. With 2018 just days ahead, fans will be anxious to see if PUBG stays at or near the top as more publishers and developers look to take advantage of the current popularity of the battle royale genre.
