EWC is a key event in the competitive PUBG calendar; a record prize pool aside, teams will also earn PGS points that go toward a direct invitation to the biggest tournament on the esports calendar, the PUBG Global Championship.

This edition of the Esports World Cup PUBG tournament sees 24 teams from across the globe converge in Riyadh to play for the lion’s share of a $2 million prize pool—one of the largest in the esport’s history.

Teams were split into three groups, with each going head-to-head over three days of competition. After the third day wraps, the top 16 teams (according to points scored) will head to the grand final, while the bottom eight head home.

The grand final takes place over two days, Aug. 24 to 25, and consists of 12 rounds of play. Unlike fellow battle royale Apex Legends, the Match Point format won’t be used here. Instead, all 16 teams will play out the 12 rounds. Whoever leads by the end takes home the trophy and glory of an EWC championship.
