The pool of available champions in Pokémon UNITE keeps growing month after month, which by itself already shakes up the meta enough. That, in addition to occasional balance changes, makes it harder for players to know what are the best Pokémon to climb the Ranked ladder.
Some Pokémon in UNITE will always be stronger than others because it’s in TiMi Studio’s best interest to give each Pokémon available in the game their time to shine. The Pokémon also fall into four categories—Speedsters, Attackers, All-Rounders, Supporters, and Defenders. Attackers, All-Rounders, and Speedsters are capable of dealing high amounts of damage or even one-shotting other characters, while Defenders and Supporters provide the necessary crowd-control effects and healing so the Pokémon that deal more damage can have sustainability.

You may strengthen your chances of climbing the Ranked ladder of UNITE if you play with Attackers, Speedsters, or All-Rounders because they can carry matches, but don’t forget that a good Defender or Supporter also wins some games. Without further ado, here are the best Pokémon to use in UNITE‘s Ranked mode.
Pokémon UNITE Ranked tier list
Explaining the Pokémon UNITE Ranked tier list
Our tier list works similarly to a pyramid. The Pokémon at the top—S+, S, A+, and A—are the best available right now in UNITE, based on what we see in both professional and casual play. They’re good at dealing tons of damage, defending, providing crowd control, or healing allies.
This doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t pick a Pokémon that we placed in the intermediary tiers—B+ and B—and do well. If you have a good understanding of the mechanics of these Pokémon, you will still have a good chance to win matches inside UNITE‘s Ranked mode.
Our only advice is that you refrain from picking Pokémon in the C or D tier. This is the category for Pokémon that are in a dire need of buffs to become good again and a viable option in UNITE‘s solo queue. Staying away from them will likely prevent you from getting frustrated in your matches.
What Pokémon should I play in Pokémon UNITE?
In the end, there’s no real answer to this question. We advise you to play according to your strengths, instead. If you, for example, know how to play long-ranged Pokémon better than melee Pokémon, that’s a great starting point. Pick whatever suits your playstyle and, most importantly, have fun. The Ranked matches are short—10 minutes—and you can always queue up again and try to win, in case you’re losing.
This tier list will be updated whenever a new balance patch is released or a new champion is added to the game.
