After years of waiting, the Galar Starter Pokémon are finally set to arrive in the next season of Pokémon Go—and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.
This confirmation comes from a small teaser trailer shared by Niantic on Aug. 26. The trailer shows Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey walking across a road, followed by a Dynamax Wooloo. The trailer also confirms the new season is called Max Out and starts on Sept. 3.
The trailer appears to be a nod to the classic Beatles photo of the group crossing the street for the Abbey Road album cover, which is a subtle nod to the Galar region being based on London.
Trainers have been waiting for Galar Pokémon to appear in Pokémon Go since 2011, when Niantic added the first Galar Pokémon to the game as part of the Ultra Unlock for that year. On top of finally getting Galar starters, Dynamax and Gigantamax are also set to be added, though details on how the feature works are scarce.
Niantic officially confirmed the addition of Galar Pokémon on Aug 18 at the Pokémon World Championships, with Morpeko also expected to be released in the new season. This is the first time any additional Pokémon have been confirmed for the new season, which officially ends on Dec. 3.
Even with the confirmation of the Starter Pokémon in the trailer, there is no guarantee that the Pokémon will be available on day one. We need to wait for the new season to go live on Sept. 3 to get an idea of what’s in store.
