Blizzard’s first-person shooter has reached 30 million players, the developer announced today. The game was last reported to have 25 million players in late January. In October, Overwatch had 20 million players across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game’s growth seems to even out at around five million players every few months.

Overwatch’s continued growth is impressive, though it is unclear whether Blizzard means there are 30 million active Overwatch accounts, or if 30 million copies of the game have sold. A Morgan Stanley report released in late March suggests Overwatch has around 17 million active monthly players, however.

“More than 30 million players have charged into Overwatch,” Blizzard said in a tweet. “Thanks for grouping up with us, heroes. We couldn’t ask for a better team.”

Perhaps not a coincidence, Overwatch is currently running its Overwatch Uprising event, which likely was a draw for new players. A new cooperative brawl added a player-versus-environment element to Overwatch, while also expanding on the world’s ever-growing lore.

Blizzard is likely looking to move forward on this momentum to ensure a successful start for its upcoming Overwatch League, which is said to begin in a few months.
