Overwatch 2 might be free to play, but that’s not stopping the hero shooter from coming to Game Pass. And since you’re already getting the game for free, Xbox Game Pass owners can expect a suite of free cosmetics instead.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass on Sept. 17, users with a subscription to the game service will be treated to several popular skins for free, including Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver. What’s more, Blizzard announced today that Game Pass users will also receive 30 Mythic Prisms for use in Overwatch 2’s Mythic Shop, where they can buy the game’s most sought-after hero and weapon skins and their customization tiers.

That includes Anubis Reaper, season 12’s new Mythic skin. Ana players are in for a little Mythic treat, too, with the Midnight Sun weapon skin also entering this season’s Mythic Shop.

With the price of Game Pass going up, it’s clear Microsoft is using all of its properties to try to sweeten the deal for new and existing subscribers. That includes Call of Duty Black Ops 6 coming to the subscription service, sure, but it’s nice to see little touches like this that continue to eke out a bit of value in existing titles, even free-to-play ones.

Xbox Game Pass users need to log into Overwatch 2 between Tuesday, Sept. 17, and Monday, Oct. 21, to claim these rewards and ensure their account is linked with their Battle.net account. You can do this by logging into Battle.net, going to your account settings, and logging into your Xbox account under the Connections tab.

Once that’s set, your rewards will be available as soon as Overwatch 2 launches onto Game Pass on Sept. 17. On top of connecting, keeping those accounts linked and running will also net you “additional in-game collectibles,” Blizzard has promised.

It’s tough work being a hero, but free skins do make the grind feel a bit easier.
