The second run of the Overwatch 2 beta will kick off on June 28 at 1pm CT. Unlike the previous beta, Blizzard has revealed that those who play Overwatch on PlayStation or Xbox consoles will be able to participate alongside PC players. In fact, part of the goal of this beta is for the developer to test cross-play capabilities and console server usage. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players will not be able to participate.
Registration for the next Overwatch 2 beta began on June 16. Interested players can find more beta information on the official Overwatch site and on Blizzard’s social media accounts. This upcoming beta will feature a new map, new tank Junker Queen, and a host of balance updates and tweaks.
How to sign up for Overwatch 2 beta
Players who want to sign up for the Overwatch 2 beta should go to the Overwatch website. Once there, scroll all the way down to the section titled “Opt-in for the beta.” You’ll need to select your platform (and your account region, if you’re on PlayStation) and log in to your Battle.net account. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be automatically signed up to receive potential beta access. Even if you already opted in for the first beta, you’ll need to do so again for this beta.
Like the previous beta, not all players who request access will be able to get in at first. In the website’s FAQ, Blizzard specifically notes that only a small group of players will be chosen to enter the beta on June 28, followed by additional, larger waves of acceptances starting on July 5. Blizzard’s goal is to accept all players who request access no later than July 14.
Fans who want to guarantee entrance into the beta can purchase the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack on a platform that supports the beta. Everyone who purchases the Watchpoint Pack will be given beta access as soon as it launches on June 28 or at the time of purchase if it occurs after the start of the beta. The Watchpoint Pack also includes exclusive cosmetics, virtual currency, and a premium battle pass that will be awarded when Overwatch 2 launches in early access on Oct. 4.
