Not to be confused with a washing machine, the Wish Machine is a potential path to great loot in Once Human that’s every bit as fun as it is gimmicky.
Simply put, the Wish Machine is a gacha game where you can gamble currency (don’t worry, there’s no pay-to-win or micro-transactions here) to possibly score Blueprints or gear. While the Wish Machine is straightforward, finding it isn’t so simple. Read on to learn how to find and use the Wish Machine in Once Human.
How to get a Wish Machine in Once Human
In Once Human, you can get a Wish Machine by unlocking it through the Memetics Logistics tree using three Meme Points, and building it.
How to build a Wish Machine in Once Human
Once you’ve unlocked the Wish Machine machine via Memetics, you can build it if you have the following resources:
- 25 Copper Ingots (This is made at the furnace using copper ore and charcoal).
- 10 Rusted Parts (This can be found in the wilderness or by disassembling junk).
- Five Metal Scraps (This can be found in the wilderness or by disassembling junk).
- Three Rubber (This can be found in the wilderness or by disassembling junk).
- Five Glass (This is made at the furnace using gravel and charcoal).
When you have the materials, you can build your Wish Machine by entering building mode (b), navigating to the Facility tab, then Facility Function, and building your Wish Machine.
How to use the Wishing Machine in Once Human
Using the Wish Machine is pretty straightforward, but it does have some quirks. Starchrom is the currency you use to “draw” at the machine, and it costs 500 Starchrom per draw.
Each draw will give you one item from a set pool of Blueprints, Cosmetics, or gear ranging from C rarity to S rarity. These can be pieces of a blueprint or an entire blueprint. Once you’ve gotten a specific piece, it is removed from the drawing pool, so you don’t need to worry about pulling duplicates.
When you draw from the Wish Machine, there is a little animation in which you must hit a llama with a mallet Whack-A-Mole style. Don’t worry: You can’t actually miss, and which llama you do or don’t hit doesn’t affect your prize.
There’s also a section at the Wish machine where you can buy blueprints directly using Starchrom. But these blueprints are expensive, so you’ll need lots of Starchrom to buy them.
However, if this sounds confusing, there’s also a quest tied to the Wish Machine that you can complete to learn how to use it.
How to start and complete the Concept of Materialization
Once you’ve unlocked the Wish Machine through Memetics, you’ll automatically get this level-five quest, Concept of Materialization, which will take you to a spot just outside Deadsville.
After speaking with the guard, he asks you to interact with the Wish Machine beside the camper van. Once you interact with the Wish machine, you’ll talk to it and then make a wish. After doing that, speak to it again. It says it wants you to take it home. So, secure your Wish Machine by pressing “F.”
As soon as you do that, you’ll have completed the Concept of Materialization quest and learned more about using the Wish Machine.
How to get more Starchrom for the Wish Machine
Starchrom is easy to come by as you can get it by completing Season Goals, from Battle Pass levels, performing Territory Purification, participating in Prime Wars, redeeming Stellar Planula, or completing Journey tasks.
However, Starchrom isn’t rewarded automatically for some tasks, such as the Journey tasks, so you’ll need to navigate to their designated pages and claim them manually.
The Wish Machine seems intimidating, but once you get the hang of it you’ll find yourself gambling your Starchrom away for a chance at incredible weapons and gear.
