Ciphers are a unique resource tool you acquire in Once Human. They’re upgrade points you can use to increase your known crafting projects and the items you can make with your character, granted you have enough materials. Getting Ciphers, though, can be a little confusing.
There are direct methods to unlock Cipher as they’re a significant requirement for progression in Once Human, especially as you expand your base. For those curious about the fastest way to get more Ciphers and unlock more crafting blueprints, here’s what you need to know.
Where to get Ciphers in Once Human
Ciphers, also known as Memetics or Meme Points, are how you unlock crafting levels and blueprints for your character in Once Human. These become available to you as you level up your character. You receive four Ciphers for every level, and you can spend them on the Memetics page, granted you have the necessary Energy Link to purchase. Every crafting recipe throughout the Infrastructure, Crafting, Logistics, and Building page requires Ciphers and Energy Link points to unlock them.
Leveling is the most straightforward method of getting Ciphers, but there are also Cipher rewards for completing seasonal activities. You can go to the Season Goals page, where you’ll find a distinct breakdown of various activities you can do for the current season. When you complete enough activities and go through the next phase, you’ll receive a small reward, including Ciphers, although they’re distinctly referred to as Meme Points on the page. You can complete these seasonal activities anytime while playing Once Human if you can still unlock them. The other method for getting Ciphers is by tracking down a Deviation.
You can review the number of Ciphers you want to use while on the Memetics page on your character sheet. Hover over any available nodes to preview how many Ciphers and Energy Link points you need to unlock, but only if the connected nodes are unlocked. You can’t grab any node you want.
Spend your points wisely in Once Human. There’s the option to reset your Memetics, giving back all your spent Cipher points, but the reset requires you to spend 30 percent of the Cipher and Energy Points you’ve already used.
